Sacred self-care β€” wellness and restoration for Black women

HEALING THE BLACK WOMAN

Health Advocacy & Holistic Wellness

My approach to healing

β€œMy work is centered on creating space for the health and wellness of Black women and underserved communities. Health equity isn't a concept β€” it's active, hands-on support.”

I'm a Certified Community Health Worker, Licensed Esthetician, Licensed Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer, and Trained Doula. This unique combination of credentials allows me to bridge the gap between clinical medicine and holistic wellness β€” addressing your body, mind, and spirit.

Too often, Black women are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or made to feel invisible in healthcare settings. My practice exists to change that. When you work with me, you gain a partner who prepares you, stands beside you, and ensures you're heard.

01

Advocacy Beyond the Surface

Deep, personalized support β€” not one-size-fits-all care.

02

Lifelong Equity

Honoring women across every stage of life β€” not just maternal care.

03

Nourishment as Medicine

Intentional herbal blends to replenish and restore.

The Foundation

Rooted in lived experience.
Driven by research.
Uncompromising advocacy for Black women.

For most of my life, I lived with chronic Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) β€” never fully understanding the depth of what that meant until my body suddenly forced me to stop.

I had been active my entire life. I was living in the city I'd always dreamed of, sitting on thousands of dollars in savings, experiencing a soft, peaceful season, and feeling like I was in the highest place I had ever been. Then, almost overnight, my health crashed.

Debilitating symptoms took over: chronic hives, swelling, heart palpitations, PSVT, severe temperature dysregulation, crushing fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, and severe anxiety that made me afraid to leave my own home.

When I sought help, the healthcare system wrote me off. They dismissed everything as "high anxiety and depression" β€” completely ignoring the reality of where I was in my life. Because my physical symptoms were dismissed instead of investigated, I lost everything: my ability to move freely, my home, my car, and my financial security.

Left with no choice, I took my health into my own hands and threw myself into deep, relentless research. What I discovered exposed a massive, systemic failure in how Black women's health is researched and treated.

The Research Gap

Historically, medicine was built on the exploitation of Black bodies while simultaneously excluding Black women from clinical trials and foundational research. The tiny fraction of research that did receive funding was overwhelmingly centered on pregnancy and maternal outcomes β€” because society historically valued the potential child over the lifelong health and longevity of the woman.

While the maternal mortality rate for Black women is staggering β€” 2.5 to 3 times higher than white women regardless of income or education β€” our health crisis extends far beyond childbirth. The total lack of tailored clinical research for non-pregnant Black women leaves millions navigating undiagnosed chronic illnesses, hormonal imbalances, and severe physiological breakdown without answers.

Chronic Deficiencies & The Autoimmune Link

Black women are chronically deficient in key, interconnected co-factors β€” specifically Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Iron. These are not isolated nutrient shortages; they are vital biological components required for cellular function, immune regulation, and hormone synthesis.

Vitamin D Deficiency

Plays a direct, documented role in the epidemic of uterine fibroids, severe immune dysregulation, and heightened susceptibility to autoimmune diseases β€” where the body's immune system begins attacking its own tissues.

Magnesium Deficiency

Directly impairs iron absorption, triggers chronic vascular constriction leading to uncontrolled high blood pressure, disrupts heart rhythm, and exhausts the adrenal system.

Iron Cannot Work Alone

Iron cannot function without these co-factors. When clinicians test iron in isolation without assessing full mineral panels, cellular iron deficiency persists, triggering chronic inflammation, hives, tissue hypoxia, and autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

The Biopolitical Load

Black women occupy a unique position where we are socialized to protect, educate, and care for everyone else, politically expected to mobilize for every cause, emotionally burdened as the permanent stabilizer, economically underpaid despite being highly educated, and medically deprioritized in clinical settings.

Carrying this "Strong Black Woman" load without reciprocal protection creates chronic sympathetic nervous system activation. Elevated cortisol and catecholamines while lowering vagal tone literally alters mineral metabolism, causes the kidneys to dump magnesium, accelerates biological aging, and triggers chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions long before standard blood work flags an issue.

Why I Founded This Practice

The answers were right there in basic biochemistry and social reality, yet the medical system was failing to educate, listen to, or protect us. I watched wellness spaces that claimed to focus on Black women's health slowly backtrack, broaden their focus, and become generic under the banner of "inclusivity" β€” while Black women were still struggling to receive basic equity and care.

We do not backtrack. We do not dilute our focus.

Grounded in full-spectrum doula training alongside my background as a certified personal trainer, Certified Community Health Worker, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Esthetician, Healing the Black Woman serves as the core framework for active patient advocacy and medical system navigation.

I walk into healthcare spaces with you β€” helping you prepare for appointments, ask the right questions, demand complete diagnostic panels (including iron co-factors, mineral levels, and autoimmune markers), dissect care plans, and ensure your voice is never dismissed.

Purely Sacred Beauty and Wellness

To physically support this work, I founded Purely Sacred Beauty and Wellness β€” the product arm born directly out of this research. Purely Sacred delivers mineral-rich, handcrafted herbal formulations (like our Iron Tea blends) and body rituals specifically designed to replenish the exact nutrients that chronic stress and systemic gaps strip from our bodies.

Healing the Black Woman is the foundation, the voice, and the advocacy. Purely Sacred is the physical nourishment. Together, they exist so Black women have access to the knowledge, clinical protection, and daily tools needed to demand equity, restore their bodies, and take back their lives.
